Stories With Happy Endings!

Many times you ask about certain animals you have seen at Southside who have been adopted so we want to try and keep you up to date on their story.  We are always excited to find new parents or foster families for these deserving kids.

Shep came to us through release of his owners.  He was brought in to euthanize because he had sarcoptic mange and the family was not able to treat him.  Dr. Werner saw a gentle soul in Shep and when the owners had signed him over into our care she and the staff went to work to make him healthy again.  We soon learned that Shep loved everyone!  As he began to recover he interacted with the clinic cats and became best friends with Lilly who is still waiting for the right home.

Shep's new Mom is fostering him, but believes that this may be where he belongs.  She heard of him through a client and came to meet him and fell in love.  The day she took Shep home she was a little anxious, hoping she would do what was right and make him feel at home in his new place.

When we called to check on them both the next day she told us that she had fixed Shep a comfortable bed in a special room and tucked him in for the night.  Later she woke to find him cuddled next to her sound asleep.  She said she had only about twelve inches of room because Shep truly  made himself at  home.  The next day she let  him out in her back yard only to come back and find him missing.  She ran to the front and found him sittting patiently at the door waiting to come inside.

Shep is home!!

Libby came to us through a client who found her.  Immediately it was evident that Libby was a precious kid.  Her loving disposition soon won us all over and we knew that it would take a special family to deserve this sweet dog.

After spending six months with us a family who had lost their beloved pet were introduced to her.  They decided to take her for a trial visit and that visit turned into a permanent residence.  She loves her new home and can be seen jogging daily on the streets of Henderson with her new owner.

Lilly found a new home!  In December the Gleaner featured Lilly in their pet page with an article on Southside.  We soon received a call from a wonderful family who had seen Lilly's picture.  They took her home for a trial visit and things went really well.  Dr. Werner and staff visited her and saw that she was content and so loved.  The family then took her for a longer period and everything was wonderful.  We are so happy that she has a loving family at last.
