Chaplain Church conducting our Remembrance Service

The Reverend Angela Church is our Chaplain in Residence.  The role of a chaplain is not something usually found in a veterinary hospital, but part of Dr. Werner's philosophy regarding care of a pet is that they are a part of the family.  She recognizes that when this family member becomes ill or dies we feel the same emotions and grief associated with any one that we love.  Therefore, it was crucial for Southside to have a chaplain available to be with clients during this critical and difficult time.

Angela is a native of Louisville.  She graduated from Campbellsville Collge with a Bachelor of Science degree.  In 1980 she graduated with her Master's of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  She was ordained as a ministry in 1981 and has served churches in Virginia and Kentucky.  She has worked in missions in Germany, with American military families and in Alaska with the native population.  She was hired by the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1986 as a chaplain to inmates and staff and served in that position for 16 years.  During her time as chaplain with the prison system she served in Texas, Kentucky and Colorado working with both incarcerated men and women.  She also served in the Central Office of the Bureau in Washington D.C. where she trained chaplains on faith based compliance.

Angela has a Golden Retriever named Shelby who can't control her licker!  She believes everyone is her new best friend.  Her energy and joy of life keeps Anglea on her toes.
