Dr. Chandra Werner

Meet Dr. Chandra Werner, the veterinarian and owner of Southside Animal Hospital.  Dr. Werner is a graduate of Midway College in Kentucky and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Bio-Medical Sciences Colorado State Univerisity in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Dr. Werner is a native of Arizona, but fell in love wit the Bluegrass State when she attended college.  She is profoundly deaf since the age of 18.  She tells everyone that the animals don't seem to care that her hearing is impaired.

Dr. Werner has dreamed of being a veterinarian since she was a little girl.  She says her first clue to her "calling" came as she watched and worried over what might become of Lassie each week on television.  The next hint was when her parents found her in her grandmother's barn surrounded by mewing kittens, her eyes almost swollen shut because of allergies.  She had been warned not to play with them, but took the first opportunity to slip away and cuddle with the frisky litter.

It is has taken hard work and perserverance, but she is now living her dream.  She has had a vision of what a veterinarian hospital should be and she has implemented her beliefs at Southside.  Her commitment to progressive medicine with a tender touch insures the highest standard of care for you pet.  She sees her profession as something she was called to do and it is never just a job to her.

Dr. Werner delights in the special relationship she holds with each animal she treats as a patient.  She is acutely aware of their presence and delights in greeting them personally.  She asks owners to bring their furry family member by for a drop-in visit so they can learn to be comfortable and trusting of her and her staff.  Treats quickly appear when an excited dog comes through the door.

Dr. Werner shares her life with four rescued animals.  Scout is her German Shepherd mix who worships her.  Poochie is a Rat Terrier who was adopted after his owner died.  Bridghid and Blue are felines who are learning to live in peace together.
